Unspoken Storm
I woke up this morning
The world was grey
I look around me
And the shadows play.
They're laughing at
The bruises on my face.
And at every mark left by your cold embrace.
I watch the clouds roll in,
Signaling harm.
When will I ever learn to heed the siren's warn ?
So let the rain come down
And wash me away.
Let wash me far from here, from you, and all we've ever been.
Let it take my sin
And wash it (all) away.
Let it make me innocent, like I was back then.
Across the room,
I see your eyes.
A look more murderous
Than the sky.
I must’ve seen
That look a thousand times.
So much fire and fury all too well disguised.
The world grows darker,
As the storm grows close.
And now all I feel are your hands around my throat.
So let the rain come down
And wash me away.
Let it wash me far from here, from you, and all we’ve ever been.
Let it take my sin
And wash it (all) away.
Let it make me innocent like I was back then.
And let the thunder sound,
Drowning out my cries.
All that escapes my lips
Is one last dying sigh.
The lightning flashes,
Lighting the black.
All these shades of grey and I’m laying on my back.
The flashing lights,
Now red and blue,
My longed for liberty wrongfully brought by you.
Suddenly, I’m looking
All around
And at so much crimson on a body, face down.
But the rain comes down
And washes me away.
It washes the blood, the soul, the abuse, all that’s been.
It takes my sin
And washes it away.
Now I am innocent like I was back then.
And as the thunder fades,
So do my cries.
My lips turn blue, and I’m numb from the ice.
The harsh wind’s howling
And its shadows cease.
As sudden as it started,
The storm has taken me.
So let the rain come down
And wash the memories away.
Let it wash them far from here, from me, and all we’ve ever been.
Let it take your sin
And wash it (all) away.
Let it make me see innocence like all had back then.
So let the rain come down
And wash me away.
Let it wash me far from here, from you, and all we’ve ever been.
Let it take my sin
And wash it (all) away.
Let it make me innocent, like I was back then....
